I started making my embroidery ‘paintings’ in 2019 while exploring contemporary forms of the traditional medium. Sewing thread on canvas is a slow process in comparison to my painting practice. It has made me slow down and think with each stitch, pulling inspirations from my surroundings. These works have been a great way for me to focus on smaller, more portable pieces while away from the studio.
